Taiwan Prioritizes Aid to Ukraine Amidst Global Military Support Debate

Former Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen emphasized that the U.S. should prioritize military aid to Ukraine over Taiwan, despite the threat of a Chinese invasion. Speaking at the Halifax International Security Forum, Tsai argued that a Ukrainian victory would deter global aggression, including from China. Her comments follow concerns from U.S. military officials about the impact of aiding Ukraine on American readiness in Asia. Tsai, who left office in January, also highlighted Taiwan's increased defense spending and ongoing reliance on U.S. weapons.
