"Taiwan and China Unite for Kinmen Boat Capsizing Rescue Mission"

Taiwan dispatched coast guard boats to join a rescue mission at China's request after a fishing vessel capsized near the Taiwan-controlled Kinmen islands, amid heightened tension in the sensitive Taiwan Strait. China claims Taiwan as its own territory and has increased military activities near the island. Both sides sent rescue boats, with Taiwan sending four coast guard vessels and China sending six. Last month, China's coast guard began regular patrols around the Kinmen islands after two Chinese nationals died while trying to flee Taiwan's coast guard.
