Russia's Missile Attack on UK Cargo Ship in Black Sea Confirmed

The UK has accused Russia of targeting a civilian cargo ship in the Black Sea port on August 24 in a missile attack that was successfully thwarted by Ukrainian defenses. This is the first official comment on a ship being targeted since Ukraine's efforts to allow stranded vessels to sail into open waters. Four cargo ships have sailed from Odesa since August 18. The missiles, including two "Kalibr" missiles fired from a Black Sea Fleet missile carrier, were shot down. Russia's defense ministry has not responded to the accusation.
