"Russian Navy Takes Action: Warning Shots Fired and Cargo Ship Boarded in Black Sea"

A Russian warship fired warning shots and boarded a cargo ship in the Black Sea, claiming it was headed to Ukraine. Russia had previously pulled out of a UN and Turkish-brokered deal allowing Ukraine to move its grain via the Black Sea and warned that any ships headed to Ukraine would be treated as potentially carrying weapons. The cargo ship, named Sukru Okan, was allegedly headed to the Ukrainian port of Izmail, although marine traffic websites currently show its destination as the Romanian port of Sulina. The ship was empty at the time of inspection, and the Russian soldiers searched the cabins and documents of the crew members. The captain signed a document certifying no injury or damage, and the ship was allowed to continue its journey. Ukraine has recently opened a temporary humanitarian corridor for ships to sail to and from its ports.
