China and Russia Strengthen Military Ties with High-Level Meeting

China's defense minister, Li Shangfu, met with the Russian navy chief, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, in Beijing to discuss strengthening naval cooperation between the two countries. They expressed the need for joint exercises, cruises, and military skills competitions, as well as expanding practical cooperation in professional fields. This meeting marks the highest-level public talks between military officials from China and Russia since a failed mutiny in Russia last month. Both countries aim to contribute to regional and global peace and stability. China and Russia have been growing closer in economic cooperation and diplomatic relations, with their militaries frequently conducting joint drills.
