Council of Europe recognizes forced transfer of Ukrainian children as Russian genocide.

The Council of Europe has passed a resolution calling Russia's forced transfer of Ukrainian children "genocide". The parliament has called for the safe return of the children to Ukraine, stating that "the documented evidence of this practice matches with the international definition of genocide". The Ukrainian President has hailed the resolution as an "important" decision that will help "hold Russia and its leaders to account". The Hague-based International Criminal Court has also issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia's presidential commissioner for children's rights, citing the "unlawful deportation" of children.
