"Iran Sentences Nobel Laureate Narges Mohammadi to Extended Prison Term"

Iranian Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi has been sentenced to an additional 15 months in prison, making it her fifth conviction since March 2021. Accused of spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic, she has already spent 12 years in jail and faces a total of 31 years in prison. The verdict also orders her to spend two years in exile outside Tehran, bans her from traveling abroad and joining political or social groups, and prohibits her from having a mobile phone for two years. Despite the threats and arrests, the 51-year-old human rights activist continues her work, which led to her winning the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran.
