Nationwide Grid Collapse in Nigeria: Power Restoration Underway

Nigeria experienced a nationwide power outage for about 10 hours after the country's electrical grid collapsed due to a fire in one of the power plants. The outage affected all 36 states and the capital city of Abuja before electricity was restored in most parts of the country. Power generation fell to zero but has since risen to 273 megawatts, well below the daily average. Nigeria's grid has collapsed multiple times in recent years, and the government is working to improve supply by allowing state governments to build their own power plants.
