Star Wars-obsessed man sentenced to 9 years for crossbow plot to kill Queen Elizabeth II

A Star Wars-obsessed man, Jaswant Singh Chail, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for a plot to kill Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle. Chail, wearing a metal mask inspired by the Star Wars movies, was caught with a loaded crossbow on Christmas Day 2021. He claimed his intent was to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Chail, who had a chatbot "girlfriend" named Sarai, believed that completing the mission would reunite him with her in death. Diagnosed as psychotic, Chail will receive treatment at a secure psychiatric center before serving the remainder of his sentence in prison.
