The death toll from a Kenyan cult tied to a pastor who ordered his followers to starve to death in order to meet Jesus has surpassed 300, with more exhumations planned. The pastor, Paul Mackenzie, is expected back in court this week after police were granted more time to hold him pending investigations. Mackenzie had been charged in connection with the disappearance of children before his arrest in April. Kenyan President William Ruto has likened Mackenzie to a terrorist, and the interior minister suggested he might be charged with terrorism or genocide-related offenses.
