Sanctuary Hotel: A Refuge for Those Waiting to Leave Sudan

A diverse group of people, including Sudanese families, British and French citizens, a Syrian family, and a Lebanese man, sought refuge in a small hotel in central Khartoum as fighting between Sudan's two most powerful generals turned the capital into an urban battlefield. The hotel became a sanctuary as guests exchanged stories of survival and waited for a way to escape the city. Some were eventually evacuated, but the fate of those who stayed behind is unknown.
