Tragedy Strikes as Death Toll Soars in Armenian Refugee Blast

At least 68 people were killed and 105 are still missing in an explosion at a makeshift gas station used by ethnic Armenians fleeing the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh. The blast occurred as thousands of refugees were lining up for gas to leave the region, following a successful military offensive by Azerbaijan. The death toll was revised after earlier confusion regarding casualties from fighting. Many of the injured have been evacuated to Armenia, and there are concerns that the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh may seek to flee. Western countries have expressed concern for the Armenian population and called on Azerbaijan to ensure their rights and security. The United States has sent officials to express support and provide humanitarian assistance. Talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan are scheduled to take place in Brussels.
