Hong Kong's Diminishing Freedom

In Hong Kong's largest national-security trial, 45 pro-democracy activists, part of the "Hong Kong 47," have been sentenced to four to ten years in prison for organizing an unofficial primary election in 2021. The trial has been criticized as politically motivated, with 14 found guilty of conspiracy to commit subversion, 31 pleading guilty, and two acquitted.
