"Roman Ship Resurfaces in Serbian Coal Mine"

Archaeologists in Serbia are carefully uncovering the remains of a Roman ship discovered by miners in an open-cast coal quarry near the ancient city of Viminacium. The ship, believed to be from the 3rd or 4th century AD, was likely part of a river fleet serving the Roman city. This is the second ship discovery in the area since 2020, and archaeologists plan to display it alongside thousands of other artifacts from Viminacium. The excavation of Viminacium, which covers a vast area and has yielded numerous valuable finds, has been ongoing since 1882.
