"Gas Network Expansion in Peru Reveals Ancient Mummies and Artifacts"

Workers expanding the gas network in Lima, Peru, have uncovered eight pre-Inca funeral bales, including mummies, pottery, and textiles. Over the past 19 years, the excavation work has yielded more than 1,900 archaeological finds, revealing the rich history of the area. The recent discovery is believed to belong to the pre-Inca culture called Ichma, which existed from around A.D. 1100 until its incorporation into the Inca Empire in the late 15th century. The findings highlight the continuous occupation of the region by various cultures throughout history.
