An Egyptian-Japanese archaeological team's ambitious project to reconstruct the outer granite casing of King Menkaure's pyramid at Egypt's Giza Necropolis has been deemed "impossible" by a committee appointed to review the plans. The committee, led by veteran Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, unanimously objected to the re-installation of the granite casing blocks, citing the pyramid's exceptional universal and archaeological value. The committee emphasized the importance of maintaining the pyramid's current state without alterations and stated that the project would require modern materials such as cement, which they could not support.
