Sudan crisis: Seized lab poses "huge" biological risk, warns WHO.

Fighters have taken over a national public laboratory in Sudan holding samples of deadly diseases including polio and measles, creating an "extremely, extremely dangerous" situation, warns the World Health Organization. The lab is completely under the control of one of the fighting parties as a military base. The UN refugee agency is bracing for up to 270,000 people to flee Sudan into neighboring Chad and South Sudan. The fighting has led to acute shortages of food, water, medicines, and fuel, and limited communications and electricity.
