"Imminent Tropical System Set to Impact Caribbean, Warns Hurricane Center"
The National Hurricane Center has stated that a tropical wave in the Atlantic has a 100% chance of becoming the next tropical depression or storm as it moves towards the Caribbean. Satellite imagery shows that an area of low pressure has formed from the tropical wave, and it is expected to develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm within the next day or so. There is a possibility of further strengthening, potentially reaching hurricane status, as the system moves over the western portions of the tropical Atlantic. Another tropical wave off the coast of Africa also has the potential to develop into a tropical depression later in the week or over the weekend. The NHC is monitoring Post-Tropical Cyclone Franklin, which may acquire subtropical or tropical characteristics while moving between the Azores and Portugal. Tropical Storm Gert has dissipated, and Tropical Depression Katia is expected to become a remnant low.
