Deadly Suicide Bombing at Political Rally in Pakistan Leaves Dozens Dead and Injured

A suicide bomber targeted a political rally in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing at least 42 people and injuring over 130. The blast occurred at a gathering of the conservative Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) party in the former tribal area of Bajaur. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) distanced itself from the attack, which it condemned, while the JUI-F is a major ally of the coalition government. Pakistan has experienced a resurgence of attacks by Islamist militants since the breakdown of a ceasefire last year.
