Meta's AR Glasses Face Setbacks and Downgraded Specs, Delaying Release to 2027

TL;DR Summary
Meta's first consumer-facing AR glasses, codenamed Artemis, will reportedly not feature the high-end displays originally planned. Instead, they will use older glass lenses and Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) display technology. The glasses may have a limited field of view of 50 degrees, compared to the originally planned 70 degrees. Meta is also downgrading other components, such as removing the lidar sensor from the wireless puck that accompanies the device. The company is scaling back on its ill-received Quest Pro headset and focusing on its line of cheaper Quest headsets.
