Rep. George Santos indicted on multiple charges, including identity theft and fraud

Rep. George Santos, a Republican congressman from New York, has been hit with 23 additional charges, including identity theft and wire fraud. Prosecutors allege that Santos charged a supporter's credit card in excess of their contribution and transferred the money to his personal bank account. The charges also include making false statements to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and falsifying records to obstruct the FEC. Santos is accused of stealing people's identities, lying about his campaign's financial state, and falsely inflating reported receipts. He is also alleged to have been involved in a credit card scheme where contributors' cards were charged repeatedly and above FEC contribution limits. Santos has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
