Rep. George Santos indicted on 23 counts including conspiracy, wire fraud, identity theft, and credit card fraud

Rep. George Santos, a Republican congressman from New York, has been charged with conspiracy, wire fraud, lying to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), and more in a 23-count superseding indictment. The charges include stealing people's identities, making unauthorized charges on donors' credit cards, and fabricating loans and contributions to inflate his campaign's reported receipts. Santos and his campaign treasurer allegedly devised a plan to submit false reports to the FEC to mislead officials and qualify for a program offered by the national party. Santos is also accused of stealing campaign contributors' identities and charging their cards without authorization. Despite the charges, Santos has refused to resign.
