Mark Ridley-Thomas, a veteran Los Angeles politician, has been found guilty of federal corruption charges, leading to his removal from the City Council. His conviction means that the city’s 10th Council District will be without a voting representative until a new one is appointed. The council could either reappoint interim appointed Councilmember Heather Hutt or hold a special election to fill the seat.
