The "Havana syndrome" ailment affecting US diplomats and spies worldwide may be linked to energy weapons used by a Russian military intelligence unit, according to an investigation by Insider, 60 Minutes, and Der Spiegel. The unit, known as 29155, was reportedly present at locations where US personnel experienced health incidents, and senior members received recognition for work on "non-lethal acoustic weapons". The symptoms of the ailment include migraines, nausea, memory lapses, and dizziness, with the first incident possibly occurring in Frankfurt, Germany, prior to 2016. Russia has denied involvement, and the US Congress passed the Havana Act in 2021 to provide support for affected staff and their families.
