Wegovy: A Promising Weight Loss Drug with Heart Benefits

Novo Nordisk has presented new data at a medical meeting, suggesting that the heart protective benefits of its obesity treatment, Wegovy, go beyond weight loss alone. The drug, which has been shown to help patients lose an average of 15% of their weight, also reduced the incidence of heart attack, stroke, or death from heart disease by 20%. The study results indicate that Wegovy has other beneficial effects beyond weight loss, including improvements in inflammation, blood pressure, and blood sugar control. Novo Nordisk expects to have the drug's label updated to include the heart benefits in the US and EU next year.
