Overcoming Breast Cancer: Local Survivor Inspires Others and Extends Life with Innovative Treatment

Rosemarie Turnbaugh, a 53-year-old breast cancer survivor, was shocked to discover she had stage three breast cancer after a routine mammogram. Despite having no symptoms and being in good health, further tests revealed metastatic spread of the cancer to her lymph nodes and thyroid. Turnbaugh underwent aggressive chemotherapy, experienced hair loss, and had surgery to remove the tumor and affected lymph nodes. She then received radiation treatment and immunotherapy to prevent the cancer from returning. Turnbaugh emphasizes the importance of routine mammograms and urges women not to delay screenings. After completing her treatments, she has returned to work and is focused on moving forward.
