Breast Implants Rescue Man with Severe Lung Damage

Doctors used large breast implants as a temporary solution to keep 34-year-old Davey Bauer alive while he fought off a severe lung infection, allowing him to eventually undergo a double lung transplant. Bauer's lungs were extensively damaged due to smoking and vaping, and he developed an additional lung infection that antibiotics couldn't clear. Surgeons removed his infected lungs and used breast implants to temporarily support his heart and maintain blood flow. The implants were replaced with donor lungs a few days later. Despite the risks involved, the innovative procedure was successful, and Bauer is on track for a full recovery.
