He is urging experts to raise awareness about the risks associated with weight loss treatments like Ozempic and bariatric surgery, which can lead to deadly complications when combined. Bariatric surgery can cause scar tissue that can strangulate the intestines, and long-term risks include hernias, gallstones, malnutrition, and dumping syndrome. Patients often turn to weight loss drugs like Ozempic, but it can further slow bowels and, when combined with bariatric scarring and opioids, can be fatal. Dubrow has three patients hospitalized due to intestinal problems linked to Ozempic use.
