Utah is experiencing a surge in mosquito populations this year, with the South Salt Lake Valley Mosquito Abatement District finding about 10 times the expected number of mosquitoes. The increase is attributed to a combination of factors, including a healthy winter with ample snowpack, cool daytime temperatures in the spring, evening showers, and a subsequent warm-up.
