A Connecticut mansion once owned by talk show host Phil Donahue is set to be demolished by its current owners, who claim it is overrun by vermin and falling apart. The mansion, located on Westport's exclusive Beachside Avenue, was sold by Donahue for $25 million in 2006. The new owners, Peggy and Gary Reiner, have built a 20,000 square foot beach-view home in front of the Tudor mansion and have applied for permission to demolish it. The town's Historic District Commission has imposed a 180-day stay, but the Reiners have not engaged in any attempt to discuss how to save the building, meaning demolition is on track to start in September.
