Sega's Sonic Superstars promises classic 2D gameplay with new surprises.

Sega's upcoming Sonic game, Sonic Superstars, is being developed by Arzest, the studio run by the original creator of Sonic, Naoto Ohshima. Ohshima will be returning to the series for the first time in over 20 years. Sonic Team had originally intended to collaborate with Sonic Mania developer Christian Whitehead, but plans fell through. Sonic Superstars will feature co-op support for up to four players and will be released in fall 2023 on multiple platforms.
