College Swimmer Assaulted at Event Opposing Trans Women in Women's Sports

Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines was allegedly assaulted at an event opposing the inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports at San Francisco State University. Gaines was struck twice and cornered by protestors before being helped by campus police. The university police department is conducting an ongoing investigation into the situation. Gaines has been vocal about her opposition to the inclusion of trans women in women's swimming and her appearance was organized by conservative organization Turning Point USA. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy called the attack an "appalling attack on free speech on a college campus."
