India's first solar observation mission, Aditya-L1, is about to reach its destination at the Lagrange point 1 (L1), a stable point in space between the Earth and the Sun, after a four-month journey. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans a final maneuver to position the spacecraft to continuously monitor the Sun. Aditya-L1 carries seven scientific instruments to study various aspects of the Sun, including its corona, photosphere, and chromosphere. The mission aims to enhance understanding of solar activity and its effects on space weather, which can impact satellites and Earth. If successful, India will join an elite group of nations with dedicated solar observation capabilities.
