Unsettling Demon Shark Species Discovered with White Irises

A new species of deep-water catshark, Apristurus ovicorrugatus, has been discovered in northwestern Australia, identified from its egg case by researchers. The species has peculiar stripey eggs and strange white irises that are rare among demon sharks of the Apristurus genus. The discovery of A. ovicorrugatus is a reminder that there are all kinds of places to discover new species.
