A 3-month-old French bulldog named Tyson had a portion of his lower left mandible removed due to cancer, but his jaw spontaneously regrew, marking the first reported case of its kind for dogs. The regrowth was attributed to the preservation of a significant amount of periosteum during surgery, containing blood vessels and nerves crucial for bone growth. Tyson's new mandible is nearly as functional as the original, and he has since undergone successful cleft palate surgery, leading a full and active life. This case demonstrates the possibility of complete bone regeneration in young dogs with similar diagnoses.
