Tropical Depression 2 Forms in Gulf of Mexico, Threatens Florida.

Tropical Depression 2 formed in the Gulf of Mexico on the first day of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season, but is not expected to strengthen into a tropical storm as it moves south. Afternoon showers and storms with heavy rain are possible in Central Florida this weekend, but winds should not be an issue. The depression is currently located in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico, about 285 miles west of Fort Myers, Florida, and is expected to weaken and degenerate into a remnant low on Saturday.
