A powerful snowstorm has stranded approximately 100 vehicles in rural New Mexico after a semi-truck jackknifed on a highway, amid blizzard conditions and below-freezing temperatures. The storm has affected over 5.8 million people across New Mexico and Colorado, with heavy snowfall and strong winds creating hazardous travel conditions. Emergency services, including the New Mexico National Guard, are working to reach stranded drivers, while more than 30,000 customers have lost power in the region. Additional snowfall is expected, exacerbating the situation.
