"Powerful Weekend Storm Threatens Eastern US with Severe Weather, Snow, and Heavy Rain"

An "atmospheric river" storm system is heading towards the West Coast and is expected to bring an active weather pattern to Michigan and the Great Lakes region this weekend. While not a historic storm, it will bring a change from abnormally warm to near-normal cold temperatures and steady precipitation. Most of Lower Michigan will experience rain, with a transition to snow on Sunday night. Total rainfall amounts are forecasted to be meaningful, with potential for one-half to one-and-a-half inches of rain. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph are expected, making travel difficult during the transition from rain to snow. The storm will move in and out quickly, with its effects diminishing after Monday afternoon.
