The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a potential low-pressure system in the Atlantic that could produce gusty winds, dangerous surf, and rip currents across southwestern United States. The system could further strengthen into a subtropical storm over the Memorial Day weekend, bringing strong winds, dangerous surf, and life-threatening rip currents and torrential, flooding rain to the coastal Carolinas. Beachgoers are advised to swim only on beaches with lifeguards in view and high tides may result in closures.
