Excessive heat continues in southern Minnesota on Wednesday, with triple-digit heat index values and temperatures cooling slightly on Thursday. On Tuesday, the Twin Cities broke a 52-year-old record with a high of 98 degrees, while some areas in western Minnesota reached triple digits. Dew points were also high, contributing to heat index values above 110 degrees. Another hot day is expected on Wednesday, with an excessive heat warning in place, followed by slightly less hot conditions on Thursday. Limited rain chances are expected, but cooler temperatures in the 70s to low 80s are forecasted for the weekend.
