Florida Schools Prepare for Tropical Storm Idalia: Closures Announced

As Tropical Storm Idalia approaches Florida, school districts in western and central parts of the state are closely monitoring the situation. Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 33 counties in preparation for the storm, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall, flooding, and hurricane force winds. Some school districts, such as Hernando and Citrus counties, have already announced closures for Monday through Wednesday, while others are monitoring the storm and will update families accordingly. Higher education institutions, including Pasco-Hernando State College, are also making preparations.
