Charlotte-area braces for mixed winter storm with snow and ice risk

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for parts of North and South Carolina as a storm could bring a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain to the Charlotte area, with 1–6 inches of snow and 0.4–1 inch of ice possible, potentially causing widespread power outages and dangerous travel from Saturday through Monday while temperatures stay below freezing.
