Intense lake effect snow bands are expected east of Lake Ontario, with snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour. Central New York will mostly remain unaffected by these snow squalls. However, there is a chance for weaker lake effect snow in the area on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures in the single digits to lower teens, making road conditions more challenging. After this cold spell, temperatures are expected to moderate for much of next week.
