Record-Breaking Number of Guns Seized at Airports on Busiest Travel Day

A loaded gun was seized at Pittsburgh International Airport on the busiest day in TSA history. The incident involved a man from Lima, Ohio, who attempted to bring a loaded 9mm handgun in his carry-on backpack. The TSA screened over 2.8 million travelers that day, the highest volume since its establishment in 2001. This year is on track to surpass the number of loaded guns found in 2021 and 2022 at the airport, with 21 already confiscated in 2023.
