Tragedy strikes as two young siblings swept away in California river

An 8-year-old girl died and her 4-year-old brother is missing after being swept away in the Kings River in California, which was closed for recreational use due to hazardous spring weather conditions. The siblings, their mother, and her friend entered the water off the shore about a mile from Pine Flat Dam, and the current swept the children downstream. The body of the missing girl was found less than an hour into the search. The incident comes as authorities in Placer County were searching for two people swept away by the American River.
