Japan Increases Age of Sexual Consent to 16.

Japan has raised the age of sexual consent from 13 to 16 in an effort to better protect minors from sexual exploitation. The new law, which was passed by the Japanese parliament, will come into effect in April 2022. The change in law has been welcomed by child protection groups, who have long called for the age of consent to be raised.
