Texas Woman Fights for Abortion Rights in Landmark Lawsuit

A Texas woman has filed an emergency lawsuit asking a judge to allow her to terminate her pregnancy after receiving a lethal fetal diagnosis. This is the first lawsuit of its kind since Texas banned almost all abortions in 2022. The woman, Kate Cox, has two children and has been diagnosed with a fetus with full trisomy 18, a chromosomal anomaly that is almost always fatal. The lawsuit argues that carrying the pregnancy to term would pose significant health risks to Cox and potentially impact her ability to have future pregnancies. The Texas Supreme Court is currently considering a similar case challenging the state's abortion laws in complicated pregnancies.
