Squatter Victims: From Landlords to Legal System Wronged

Property owners who have been victimized by squatters taking over their homes are reconsidering being landlords after feeling wronged by the legal system. Patti Peeples, who spent $5,000 in legal fees to remove squatters who occupied her home for 34 days, said investment properties were meant to subsidize her retirement, but after the incident, she is fed up. Peeples and her business partner, Dawn Tiura, have decided to sell their rental properties and will no longer invest in Florida real estate.
