Trump's Motions Denied, Supreme Court Rejects, Court Rules Trump Can Be Sued

A federal judge has denied two of former President Donald Trump's motions to dismiss the federal election interference case against him. The judge ruled that presidents do not have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for acts within their official responsibilities unless first impeached and convicted in the Senate. The judge also stated that Trump's indictment does not violate the First Amendment. Trump's lawyers had filed several motions to dismiss the case on constitutional grounds, including the First Amendment, double jeopardy, and due process. The trial is scheduled to begin in March.
