Sen. Tom Carper to Retire, Opening Up Delaware Senate Seat

Democratic Senator Tom Carper of Delaware has announced that he will not seek reelection in 2024, making him the fourth Democratic senator to do so this cycle. Carper has served for over 20 years in the US Senate and was previously Delaware's governor. He is the Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the last veteran of the Vietnam War in the Senate. Carper has expressed his support for Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware if she decides to run for his seat.
